Patient Medication Records
Most pharmacists nowadays use a computer to keep information about your health and your medicines. These records are confidential - no-one else will see them. They are useful because:
- If the doctor and pharmacist need to discuss your medicines, the pharmacist has all the details to hand.
- If you go to buy a medicine, or someone else goes for you, your pharmacist can check what else you are taking.
- He can see that the two or more medicines can be safely taken together.
- If you have, say, a rash or indigestion, your pharmacist will know if this could be a side effect of your medicine.
- You or the pharmacist could then discuss this with your doctor.
- If you go away from home and need more medicines, the pharmacist you visit can 'phone your local pharmacist for details of medicines you are already taking.
